The Cloisters on the Platte campus is known for its beauty. Our lodges, each unique and welcoming, are celebrated for their comfort. The Stations of the Cross sculptures that line our grounds offer moments of reflection and awe. The landscaping, architecture, and trails. Truly, it would be easy to go on and on about the physical beauty found at Cloisters on the Platte.
But it’s the people who make this place extraordinary.
- It’s the retreatants who fill the gift shop with joy and anticipation during check-in, nearly fifty Thursdays a year.
- It’s the volunteers who serve as lodge captains and ambassadors, giving back so others can experience a meaningful retreat.
- It is the kitchen, housekeeping, and grounds staff members who take special care and pride in the work they do for the Cloisters.
- And it’s the individuals who slip into silence and discover a deeper beauty – not the beauty of the scenery, but the beauty of spending true, unhurried time with the Lord.
And it’s the people who give. Those who give generously of their time to help greet and check-in retreatants, who choose to take a chance on a silent retreat, and who make generous financial gifts that sustain the Cloisters and its mission. Your generosity makes it possible to host forty-seven retreats a year, for 3,760 people. It allows us to care for our grounds and keeps this beautiful Ignatian ministry alive. Without you, the campus might still look beautiful, but the beauty that truly matters would be missing.
Saint Augustine said, “If you want to change the world, begin by letting God change you.” Weekend after weekend, we witness how deeply God transforms the hearts of those who come here. Your support makes that transformation possible.
As you reflect on the beauty of this place, its ponds, art and most importantly, its people – we invite you to make an end-of-year gift that continues this work. There are two ways to give – by becoming a sponsor for our Christmas at the Cloisters event or by giving to our general fund – both directly support the Cloisters. Together, we will ensure that the beauty experienced here is not just seen, but felt, shared and lived.
Thank you for all you do for the Cloisters on the Platte.
With Gratitude,
Kara Wesely
